Washington: Additional thoughts on the Seattle City Council recall -- seventh in Washington State since 2011

Here's some additional thoughts (with my comments) in the Guardian on the recall against Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant seems to have succeeded, with petitioners having over 11,000 signatures and needing 10,687. From my records, I see that this would be the seventh recall election in Washington State since 2011 (two fire district commissioners in Quilcene in 2012, Pacific Mayor in 2013, Bridgeport Mayor in 2014, Black Diamond City Councilmember in 2018 and Benton Sheriff in 2021.

The recall is temporarily set for December 7. Sawant is the first socialist elected to Seattle's council in 100 years.

There's been quite a number of twists and turns to this one. The recall is over Sawant's conduct during the Seattle riots and her failing to comply with public disclosure requirements after she led protestors to the Mayor's house.
