California: Signatures handed in for Kingsburg Councilmember recall

Petitioners have handed in 423 signatures for the recall of Kingsburg City Councilmember Jewell Hurtado. They need 354 to get on the ballot. Opponents are focused on what they say is Hurtado's "Marxist/socialist agenda." Hurtado, a college student who has been compared to Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, won her seat by just 8 votes in a district that appears to be heavily Republican (47.6% Republican registration). A recall would cost about $80-90K.
