Massachusetts: Two Selectmen removed in Templeton recall

Despite the delaying action, the results of the Templeton recall are in, with two Selectmen being ousted, though one of them is asking for a recount.

Selectmen Julie Farrell lost to Virginia Wilder by 74 votes, 754-680. In a separate vote, voters approved the recall of Mrs. Farrell by 43 votes, 747-704.

Selectman Robert C. Mitchell was defeated by Patrick Mullins, 753-687. The vote to recall Mr. Mitchell was 750 for and 696 against.

On the ballot, voters were required to vote twice, first for or against the recall and then for a candidate to elect should the recall be approved.

According to the article, since the Selectmen failed to post the election properly, a town meeting vote will be required to seek special legislation to make the election results legal.
