Venezuela: Government sets impossible conditions for recall effort

The mid-term chance for a recall of Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro appears guaranteed to fail, as the Government Election Board required the nearly 4.2 million signatures to all be gathered in a 12 hour time period at 1200 electoral centers. Petitioners gathered 42,421 signatures. Maduro previously killed a recall against him in 2017. His predecessor Hugo Chavez survived a recall vote in 2004.
