California: 5000 votes cast in early voting in Shasta County Supervisor recall

Over 5000 votes have been cast in the recall of Shasta County Supervisor Leonard Moty, which has a February 8 deadline. The recall is over the Supervisors support for restrictions to fight the Covid pandemic, though it has seemed to morph into a other right wing political issues, including potential secession from the state.

Here's a vastly more detailed look at the fight. There is also a claim that the recall proponents have copied their logo from the QAnon logo. Supervisor Patrick Jones joined the petitioners in their handing in the signatures.

The cost for a recall election is estimated is between $200,000 and $400,000.
