School Board member Jake Speed lost his recall 1408-95, with former board member Deanna Verdon replacing him. Speed was censured by the board members for being confrontational, and he claimed the school district spent illegally spent $3500 on attorney's fees, while claiming that he filed complaints with the FBI and the DA.
He won office challenging the validity of the nomination papers of incumbents, who were tossed out, leaving him as the only name on the ballot. Speed was the La Crosse Tea Party founder.
