Michigan: Bay County Clerk upbraided for mishandling Kawkawlin Township recall effort

The August petition against Kawkawlin Township Supervisor Dennis Bragiel over a no vote on wind turbines was mishandled by County Clerk Cynthia Luczak, according to the Michigan Bureau of Elections. The Bureau claims that enough signatures were handed in, but Luczak's failed to notify Bragiel, preventing him from challenging the petition. The recall can't take place because of the errors.

Luczak also seemed to make a major error on another recall petition, certifying that it would appear on the August 7 ballot, even though state law prevented a recall appearing on that day.
