UK: Labour MP kicked out of party, may face recall effort

Labour MP Mike Amesbury has been kicked out of the party for sucker-punching someone while waiting for a taxi at 2AM (the debate was over the government slashing winter fuel payments and the closing of a bride).

If Amesbury is suspended for more than 10 days or is sentenced to jail (less than a year), petitioners can start to collect signatures to get a recall on the ballot.
