There have been a number of attempts to recall state legislators in Oregon over their support for background checks. Now it looks like there is a real chance that one of these will get on the ballot. Petitioners have handed in 10,500 signatures against Senator Floyd Prozanski. They need 8415, so an 80 percent validation rate. This is well within the range that we normally see in other West Coast states, like California or Washington.
If verified, Prozanski has to resign or fact an election in 35 days. However, there is no election for a replacement and a Democrat will be chosen to replace him.
