Michigan: 2012 recall reform law poses serious problems for recall efforts against two state Reps in affair/scandal

I didn't realize this, but a couple of key points about the recalls of Courser and Gamrat, especially this one:

And the biggest impediment for a recall is that the person who voters are trying to recall will be the only person from that party on the ballot: meaning, in highly Republican districts like the areas represented by Courser and Gamrat, voters choice on the ballot would be the targeted lawmaker and a Democratic opponent or a Republican who might want to launch a tough run as an independent candidate.
