Wisconsin: Signatures approved against Merrill Council President and 3 other Aldermen

Signatures were approved against 4 of 5 targeted Merrill Aldermen, including Council President Rob Norton and Aldermen John VanLieshout, Dave Sukow and Tim Meehean. The issue was confusion over a property tax rate increase which was higher than expected (which seems to have been done due to a calculating error).

The City Clerk rejected a protest by the Aldermen that the reasons for the recall were listed on the back of the petitions, not the front.The petitions against Alderman Paul Russell were rejected because signatures were collected to early.

Petitioners need between 109-134 to get on the ballot.
