Florida: Miami-Dade mayor facing petitions over anti-tax increases/spending cuts stance

A retired firefighter is trying to recall Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez over Gimenez's anti-tax increase stance. The firefighter's sin was killed in a boat crash, and the article notes that the mayor supported the defunding of the county's fire boats.

Gimenez came into office after Carlos Alvarez was recalled in 2011. However, that recall had the support of a billionaire (and the issue was a tax hike and stadium funding). Petitioners would need more than 50,000 signatures.
