Colorado: One Pueblo councilman quits, two others facing recalls

Pueblo City Councilman Chris Kaufman resigned in the face of recall threats, after he was criticized for taking part in emails attacking local trash companies in a allegedly racist manner (the Transportation Director called local trash companies mafia haulers). Some of the critics complained that Kaufman, Council President Sandy Daff, Councilwoman Ami Nawrocki were shaping city policy in secret, with the help of since suspended Pueblo County Transportation Director Greg Severance. Draft petitions were already handed in against the three elected officials.

One of the council members who criticized the other members, Steve Nawrocki (not releated to Ami Naworocki), is the husband of former Colorado state Senator Angela Giron.
