Texas: Recall effort against Edinburg Mayor and three other officials fails

The recall attempt against Edinburg Mayor Richard Molina, Mayor Pro-Tem  David Torres and Council members Jorge Salinas and Gilbert Enriquez failed, with petitioners not turning in any signatures. They needed about 2000 signatures in 30 days to get it on the ballot.

The recall is over Molina's arrest on election fraud charges. Molina allegedly pushed out of district residents to change their address and vote for him -- 19 people have been indicted including Molina's wife.

There were numerous delays due to the behavior of the city council with the recall effort as well as a push by officials to take down pro-recall signs.
