California: Los Angeles Mayor threatened with recall over homelessness

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is now the focus of petitions over claims that homelessness has grown in the city. The leader over the recall effort is Alexandra Datig, an apparently conservative political commentator.

Petitioners would need over 300,000 signatures. While there have been plenty of attempts to recall Los Angeles' Mayors, three have gotten on the ballot. Mayors A.C. Harper in 1909 (he resigned) and Frank Shaw (of L.A. Confidential fame) in 1938 were the only two mayors to actually be removed. John C. Porter survived a recall vote in 1932.
