Texas: Rusk Voting on recall changes

Following the ouster of two Rusk councilmembers in a recall in May, the city is voting on changes to the recall law, most notably providing a provision that allows the City Council to keep working if they have less than a quorum after a recall.

Texas: Signatures handed in against Rusk City Councilmen

Signatures were handed in against Councilman Ken Ferrara and Jan Pate over alleged "highly inappropriate comments to the city secretary" Rosalyn Brown by Ferrara. Ferrara has since apologized and was reprimanded by the council. 702 signatures were handed in against Ferrera and 701 against Pate. 637 valids are needed to get the recall on the ballot.

Mayor Angela Raiborn has backed the recall effort and the two councilmembers are suing.

Texas: Two Rusk City Council members ousted in recall vote

Councilmen Ken Ferrara (123-42) and Jan Pate (146-64) were both ousted in recalls. Both recalls over alleged "highly inappropriate comments to the city secretary" Rosalyn Brown by Ferrara. Ferrara has since apologized and was reprimanded by the council. Mayor Angela Raiborn has backed the recall effort.

Texas: Rusk City Councilmen recall vote set for May 4

A May 4th recall date has been set against Councilmen Ken Ferrara and Jan Pate. The vote was 3-1, with Pate voting against and Ferrara leaving.

Both recalls over alleged "highly inappropriate comments to the city secretary" Rosalyn Brown by Ferrara. Ferrara has since apologized and was reprimanded by the council. Mayor Angela Raiborn has backed the recall effort and the two councilmembers are suing.

Texas: Council looking to set date for Rusk City Councilmen recall vote

Looks like enough signatures have been handed in to get the recall against Councilman Ken Ferrara and Jan Pate on the ballot. The council is debating setting an election date.

Both over alleged "highly inappropriate comments to the city secretary" Rosalyn Brown by Ferrara. Ferrara has since apologized and was reprimanded by the council. 702 signatures were handed in against Ferrera and 701 against Pate. 637 valids are needed to get the recall on the ballot.
