Florida: Signatures gathered in Panama City Beach
Petitioners have gathered 1,017 signatures on a proposed recall of city officials if more Spring Break regulations aren't enacted. I'm not clear what these signatures are for -- they would presumably need an official petition to get moving.
It's breathtaking to look back, watch and listen to Mayor Gayle Oberst's interviews and comments from three years ago to today. Only after the exposure of what's really going on has she toned down her "everything is fine - pay no attention" rhetoric. She could not have been more out of touch and tone deaf to the situation. Even now her March interview in the Washington Times was downplaying the very real crisis. Disgusting. A recall is not only necessary - but is long overdue.
