It appears the Republican effort to recall Sen Jauch is doomed to fail. Not announcing the number of signatures gathered indicates weakness, not success. The half-way point is a time to crow, not cackle.
The strategy outlined in the linked article is flawed. Many people won't make much of an effort to sign a petition. It has to be easy. What works is having petitioners in front of grocery stores, libraries, and athletic events encouraging everyone who goes by to sign the petition.
I do not doubt there are 17.000 eligible adults in his district who would like to see Sen. Jauch recalled. Getting the petition in front of those people is the hard part.
