Texas: Granite Shoals Councilor resigns, but will win unopposed new term next week

Granite Shoals Councilor Bruce Jones has resigned in the face of an upcoming recall, though he is almost certain return to office. The recall was scheduled for May 2021, but Jones is running for unopposed for reelection for his seat. So his resignation would only be for the time being until he is backed on the new term.

The recall is over a vote to give the city manager raise. Previously, Granite Shoals Mayor Carl Brugger resigned. Brugger was term limited and not running for reelection. 

Petitioners handed in 221 signatures and 186 were validated. They needed 152 signatures (6.5 percent of registered voters) to get on the ballot.
