Colorado: La Plata County Commissioner recall fails by 36 signatures

The recall effort against Commissioner Gwen Lachelt (D) failed by 36 signatures. Petitioners handed in a total of 8653 signatures and needed 7505.  The recall was over Lachelt's support for environmental initiatives.  About $50,000 was spent fighting the recall effort by Lachelt's supporters.
