Texas: Mayor, two Commissioners recalled in Electra; refuse to accept vote

Mayor Pam Ward (166-147) Commissioner Kevin Byrd (171-149) and Ricky Kelley (183-133) were kicked out in a recall vote over the firing of the police chief. Ward also lost a reelection run at the same time. The man who organized the recall lost in a fourth race.

Kelley refused to approve the canvassing of the election results, and Byrd missed the meeting. Without the two of them, there is no quorum, so the recall has still not been certified. It is not clear what will happen here, but just another example of problems with poorly drafted election and recall laws.
