California: Ongoing Salinas recall effort tied into city secession push

The recall attempt against Salinas Mayor Joe Gunter has now led to an attempt to split the city (with the eastern section becoming is own city called Alisal). City Councilman Jose Castaneda's supporters have apparently led the efforts. This may not be that strange, as the Alisal area was only annexed into Salinas in the 60s.
