The
Troy City Council voted at not to seek the State Attorney General's opinion on whether it needs to hold a special replacement mayoral election in February (as per state law) or if it could wait till November (as per Troy's charter).
The article notes that there is a chance of a lawsuit -- I'd put the odds at approximately 100%. Just guessing, but we've seen this play out in Tennessee, and there's probably a very good chance that the state law wins out.
